is the better of the two, the cloud patterns of the larger one look a bit
too sharp and regular.

Certainly a very good interpretation of the theme.
But I don't like too much the looks of the height field and the head + disk
cap.
Some more work on those may have helped up the artistic and/or technical marks.
The water effect is very good.
