EMAIL: ande8545@blue.unco.edu NAME: Tim Anderson? TOPIC: Imaginary Worlds COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Death of a planet COUNTRY: USA WEBPAGE: http://www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/vine/4299 RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.02 TOOLS USED: PoVSB, sPatch, POV-Ray, Adobe Photoshop 5.0 RENDER TIME: 2h 8m 21s HARDWARE USED: IBM Aptiva IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is (was) the planet of Licracas. In five minutes, it will no longer exist. The war between the Licra and the Flunds has been going on for five years. However, the Flund have just unleashed a new armada of their TQP-53 mothercraft/battleship combo jets. Although the Licra know that they will soon all die, that has not stopped them from pulling out the phantomic J-98 Jungle jets. All that they can hope for is that the J-98's can somehow stop the TQP-53 armada. Although I have entered this competition before, I am still only a beginner at raytracing. The comments that you gave me last round were EXTREMELY helpful. However, I still would appreciate any comments and/or feedback that you have for me. Thanks, and good luck to all entrants. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was made in a different mindset than any images that I did before it. This time, I had an idea of what I wanted the piece to look like. Unfortunately, it didn't even turn out close to what I had in mind. I made the satellites and the Flund mothership in sPatch. I have included both of them in my zip file. If the Flund looks familiar, it should. It was the same spacecraft that was used in last round's entry: 9_doors. The Jungle jets are actually TTF objects in Wingdings font. They are halos as well. In case you wanted to know, the letter for the plane is a capital Q. The rendering was done with POV-Ray 3.02, at a size of 1024x768. It was then shrunk down and converted with Adobe Photoshop.
