===== From sshaw@fas.harvard.edu: Very recognizeable scene from my days learning Latin in high school. You mention that the mountain in the background is to scale, but with all of the smoke that you have I find the background difficult to make out. I can't really tell what is mountain and what is rolling clouds. The houses on the left and the walkway look good. ===== From Martin.Magnusson.7121@student.uu.se: The light still looks pretty much like an indoor set. Outdoor light generally is more blue. The sky is very good, though. ===== From jerry@hoboes.com: As I recall, one of the amazing things about Pompeii was that everybody *hadn't* left, but I can understand why you did that :*) Your replacement lava flow texture in the back looks pretty good for not being your best choice. Very good job on the roof tiles as well. Nice perspective. The fountain marble? looks quite odd. ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: I like it. It is interesting that you have made Pompeii into a place human beings actually made home, which is a fresh perspective to me. Thus, very nice theme in that it poses a surprising view of event: I'm so used to seeing utter, over-acted terror on fleeing people. ===== From jull43@ij.net: I see what you are trying to do. Before changing the gamma I thought is was a biblical "Pillar of Fire" sort of thing. As a representation of an eruption that detracts from the image. If only you could have brought the lava inside the courtyard or town if that is what you meant to show. ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: It's not very clear what causes the large fire, looks like a burst gas pipe in a house, but I don't think they had that in Pompei. Nice houses, but the floor to the left of the road looks a lot out of place. ===== From davidwilkinson@cwcom.net: I like the subject, but am not convinced by the eruption. ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Different but interesting. Very much on topic. ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: Excellent sujet. Les paves sont un peu casse-geule ! le joint devrait etre beaucoup plus fin. L'ensemble est un peu confus, egalement.
