===== From sshaw@fas.harvard.edu: I am impressed by the work that went into the creation of the boat. ===== From jerry@hoboes.com: I'm not sure why, but the water looks shallow. Wonderful detail on the ships! ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: Very nice composition, not that good a sea texture........ ===== From jull43@ij.net: Nice attention to detail, direction of the flags, more clouds over land. It's not quite my field but I wuld have expected a lot more guns for a ship with that kind of rigging .. although I see the ship design and the rigging a touch on the creative side. The mainsal would have been forward of the center of the ship for instance. ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: The scene looks a lot like a toy scene, and here's why: The see texture very much unlike real water, I suggest you look at some photographs of the sea and try to imitate that look, it's _much_ darker in the first place and does not have a color pattern by itself. This 'sea' looks more like a plastic foil. The other textures are too "perfect" and featureless, esp. the wood. Sails in the wind are not perfectly smooth, they have wrinkles and flap around a lot. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Good detail on the ships, but the scene is maybe too generic: whose ships are these? Where are they battling? What was the significance of this battle? ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Nice image and does represent History. ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: Good detail with the thin elements (ropes...). The water look a bit like a table cloth (the way the water "folds"); this is probabily due to the underwater texture... Also, the point of wiew doesn't emphasis the battle action, we don't feel involved. ===== From peter@table76.demon.co.uk: Those ships look good!
