===== From sshaw@fas.harvard.edu: Your sand looks very flat; a gentle height field might have been better for it. It looks like the color variations on the sand and mountains are due to a color map rather than a normal map, and that too is unrealistic; the sand would be (fairly) uniform in color but with shadows. Finally, it would be better to have the pyramids a different color and texture than the sand around them, so that it doesn't look quite as monotonous. ===== From Martin.Magnusson.7121@student.uu.se: The skyt is nice, and I really like the sun glare. The rest of the textures seem strange. The real pyramids are built from stone blocks, and the water looks like there's a lot of oil in it. A large height field to add some dunes would be nice, IMHO. ===== From jerry@hoboes.com: Looks interesting; the sand is perhaps too shiny? and the borders between the rivers? and the sand? are very, very sharp; it looks almost like indented modern roadways. The pyramid texture doesn't look much like a pyramid, as far as I've seen. Very nice morning sky! ===== From jull43@ij.net: Other than the Nile doesn't flow that way, we share similar scale and perspective problems with the real pyramids as a theme. Besides that, the facing stones are gone, just as they are today. This could be at most any time. ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: Why did you use such obscenely screaming textures for the scene? Did you ever look at an outdoor scene with your own eyes? A lot more subtlety and fine tuning of textures might actually have achieved an acceptable image, ... The Sky is quite nice. ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Good idea, just needs more detail. Lens flare is good. Your large writing detracts from image. ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: I wonder if there was any IRTC round without any pyramid... interestingly enough, there is no pyramid primitive in Pov ! ===== From bobfranke@halcyon.com: I like the sky and sunset. The image just need more attention to detail and modeling. Try expermenting with heightfields for the landscape and try the brick texture for the pyramids. Better yet, try some sort of macro to make the pyramids with real blocks of stone.
