IMAGE DESCRIPTION: 


Whenever I looked on electric circuits as a small boy I thought that these
looked from a certain angle like a landscape with rocks and rivers of gold or
copper, houses and much more. This has been the basic idea behind the
picture. This is the landscape of this picture. Looking at this sterile plain
I thought that a tree in this surrounding would be a very conspicious
landmark. I hope you like it as much as I like it. 



DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 


The basic idea is to use a tile as a base for the circuit. I created a
tileable image with gimp (see the tutorial at www.gimp.org). This I used for a
material map that I used on a flat box. I made several elements for electrical
circuits like ICs, resisitors and condensators. With them I created two
different tiles to get a more random distribution of the elements. A third
tile has been made for the tree-holding condensator. The tiles are laid in a
way that only the visible sector of the plain is filled in a random way with
tiles. The tree is a variant of the birch tree made by Tom Aust. His Tomtree
include file is really fantastic!
The small mound around the roots of the tree is a heightfield created with
gimp. I added a nose filter to get some grass on it.
