===== From chris@bluelectrode.com: Good try at making objects appear wore and weathered. You managed pretty well, although the palm trees and posts need a little more detail. Also, I'm not sure it's because you used an image map or the result of the focal blur but the stone pathway looks 2D. The waterfall needs more detail and texture as well. My first impression was "why is there a big pillar in the background?" I'm assuming that foreground image is a dying tree limb. I'm not sure because all your trees are palm or pine and the blurred limb looks deciduous...sorry to carp. The ground fog and focal blur worked well Good job. ===== From soulmates@gci.net: Something to do with the focal blur and the lighting give me the impression I'm looking at a miniature scene rather than something appropriate to the size of a human being. All in all though, it's a great image. :{) ===== From YaelParis@operamail.com: sorry but the waterfall is too dense to look truly realistic. Nice picture anyway, the foam is well made. ===== From rbyman@rockies.net: Seems to be a lot scaling problems (ie things don't look as though they are really the size they seem to be). The waterfall needs a lot more work, I looked everywhere for it when I saw it mentioned in the description file. ===== From whhale@nvl.army.mil: I'm not a big fan of focal blur but you did a passable job here. The waterfall needs just a bit mor work to make it convincing. ===== From tom@tomandlu.force9.co.uk: This seems very out of focus. ===== From ameede@madmac.com: I am at crossroads when judging sometimes. As a practicing artist for a very long time, I have come to see art as a communications tool not to make interpretations of physical realities. For instance, you mentioned that you like the sunrise as a new beginning in life, yet you did not include the sun. I assume you did this to maintain the realist, pragmatic view of the physical world. For me, the sun acts as a viusal symbol just as it does for you, so in my mind you should have included it. I do enjoy looking at your work, it reminds me of claymation sets, and yes it does have a magical quality to it. I hope to see more in the future. ameede@madmac.com ===== From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com: Nice ground fog effect, reasonable submission, but othewise I am not carried by this image, sorry (not your fault) - just my taste. ===== From karl@pemail.net: The whole image seems to be slightly out of focus. I guess some out of focus was intentional, but its looks a little overdone ===== From albiaprime@aol.com: Technical - The falls looks okay to me except that it starts a bit too high up Artistic - Fairly well balanced picture Theme - difficult to imagine a garden ===== From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au: This could be quite nice I think, if only it wasn't so blurry! It seems like nothing is in focus. This seems to give the image the feeling of being a small scale model, like for a model railway or something, rather than a real scene. The shapes of the trees and plants look good, but the textures are a bit plastic, which also contributes to this feeling.
