JPGFILE: bridge.jpg RENDERER USED: lightwave 3d TOOLS USED: GraphicConverter RENDER TIME: 3 minutes 22 seconds HARDWARE USED: G3 300MHz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I desided to twist the topic to try and include how things become ruins,that is ruinination, decay, and entropy I hope this is not to off topic. I started moddling a Roman Aquaduct with the intention of having it decay as you scan your eyes along its length . Then I noticed how similar this looked to Victorian Railway Bridges, now also often in ruins, so I transformed it into this more modern structure with a train on top. I hoped to use this train to represent our own struggle against decay by having it raceing off screen by with the ruination that is affecting the bridge still reaching and devouring it. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: First I created the bridge in its "new" unruined form . Then I made a copy of this and used a boolean cut to ruin it . Teh smoke from the train is a number of elongated and distorted Balls with a transparancy map applied . I use a transparancy map to allow the ruined version to show through more and more across the image . A second transparency map was applied to both to make them fade out at the bottom . I did this mainly becouse the ground I was going to use looked terrible in the test renders . The same thing was then done to the mountains . The grass is lightwaves Snow Plugin . The background image was created in GraphicConverter and imported for the final render . It was then gamma corrected, roughly, in GraphicConverter and saved as a JPEG .
