TITLE: LC-34 NAME: Brook Peterson COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: boork@gostnet.com WEBPAGE: www.boork.org TOPIC: Ruins COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: lc34.jpg RENDERER USED: povray3.0 beta TOOLS USED: pico (to create the source .pov file) TIFFany2 (for file-type conversion) RENDER TIME: 25 min, 04 seconds HARDWARE USED: P233 with 128 meg ram, running NeXT IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Launch Complex 34 was the site of - among other things - the Apollo program, and what I consider the real 'beginning' of the mission that eventually put man on the moon. Not much is left of the original tower except a monolithic concrete structure lying 'abandonned in place' in the middle of a conrete field. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I did it in my spair time at work on a NeXT box. I used pico to edit the text file and converted the output tga using TIFFany. I tried to correct the gamma on it, because while it looked great on the NeXT box I found to my dismay it was almost totally black on a windows box, but I don't think I had that much success at it - I was trying to fix it at the last minute and near pulling my hair out about it... Ultimately it is a simple image of fairly common shapes, and is not terribly accurate (I was working form 4 photos). The best part is that the 'moon' isn't really all _that_ far away heh heh.
