===== From ekaiser@camden.tds.net: nice ===== From jgrimbert@atos-group.com: a real shame that the tree is unrealistic ===== From whhale@nvl.army.mil: Love the image and avery good story to boot. ===== From english@spiritone.com: I like the human touch ===== From chris@bluelectrode.com: Nice work on the broken windows. Good composition. ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: Nice image...I loved the broken stained glass... nice touch. ===== From sammy@cube.net: The light is wrong. The sun is on the wrong side of the abbey and it looks like someone is holding a powerfull searchlight on the figure. The tree is quite strange also (although that's probably what people will say about my trees;). Other wise quite convincing ruin. nice work ===== From jouni@mikrobitti.fi: Great modelling, and the lighthouse is simply beautiful. Very good use of light in the foreground, especially the shadow of the maid is great. Ok, but then the criticisms: The textures could've used a bit more work, especially on the window panes. They don't look that old and crumbled, rather like plastic (and please don't tell me it's phong wax I see there). The tree is too smooth and reminds me of an octopus. The color of the water and the intensity of the sky are not in a realistic balance. It's not perfect, but it's absolutely one of the most inspired and finished submissions this round. Congratulations, my highest score this round so far (I've voted about 80 images). Very well done, Raymond! ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: Nicely styled, great variety of effect combined into a densely layer result ===== From chris_darcy@yahoo.com: Great work ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: This is my top pick for this round... I love the mood and feel of it. The stained-glass windows are a great touch. The one criticism I have is that the branches on the tree seem a little too curvy, but that's a minor thing. Definitely a work of art! ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Hmmm... very nice! Great ambient, good lighting and nice details. But... where is the octopus? :) ===== From deathmacabre@fcmail.com: simply incredible only by nitpicking can i find something wrong... the stones on the lower part of the building seem a little unrealistic ===== From clem@dhol.org: Good story well told by the image. A very dramatic picture. The ruined abbey is very good, and the stained glass makes the whole image. The fires, especially in the lighthouse, need to be more prominent. The smoke is a bit chunky. The dead tree looks a bit strange, but it adds a lot to the image, The birds help quite a bit. I like the cobblestones, but from your description, it sounds like much more work than necessary for that effect. ===== From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au: Very nice ruins effect and stained glass. Lighting on the abbey is effective and moody. I'm not quite sure the sea and lighthouse fit in with this image... I would have preferred some more shattered buildings in the background. The sea seems to slope somehow. Still, well done. ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: Let the image tell the story, not the text file! Text file too long. It's a stunning piece of work, it really evokes emotions and an atmosphere all by itself. Very good work. ===== From file: Notable for composition
