TITLE: Stone Head NAME: Andrew McNamara COUNTRY: United Kingdom EMAIL: Andrew.McNamara@ukgateway.net TOPIC: Ruins COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: stonehea.jpg RENDERER USED: Vue D'Esprit TOOLS USED: Vue D'Esprit V2, Nendo V1, Poser 3 RENDER TIME: 1 hour 30 mins approx HARDWARE USED: PII 450 Mhz, 128 MB RAM, 16 MB STB Velocity Graphics Card IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The image was inspired by a TV documentary on stone carvings left behind by the Olmeks; an ancient Central American civilisation. The actual carved heads are made from different stone and slightly smaller but I stuck with the sandstone texture for no other reason than I liked the way it looked. I wanted to capture a feeling of decay and faded majesty, hence the late evening sky, desert setting and skeleton. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I modelled the head in Nendo and imported it in Wavefront .obj format. The skeleton was imported from Poser 3, also in .obj format. The terrain, sky and textures were all created within Vue D_Esprit. I started the image as an exercise to teach myself the basics of Vue and managed to complete it within three days of receiving the software.
