TITLE: A city in a fantasy world. JPGFILE: fantasy.jpg ZIPFILE: fantasy.zip RENDERER USED: MegaPov 0.4 TOOLS USED: Lens flare include and PCM macro by Colefax, Spatch RENDER TIME: 5 hours 19 minutes 42.0 seconds HARDWARE USED: Sun Ultra 5 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The title says it all. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Nothing special. The bird model was made with Spatch, everything else by hand. The little star is made with the lens flare include file. The coloration of the atmosphere is made with blue fog + white ground fog. The moons have an extremely high diffuse so that they are visible through the fog. The heightfield was created with the pattern-feature of MegaPov. The trees and buildings were placed using the trace()-function. The non-grainy focal blur was achieved with a surprisingly easy setting: "aperture .015 blur_samples 100 variance 0". The main trick here is the "variance 0". Even a variance of "0.00000001" made a grainy result, but 0 solved that problem. I know, the city looks like a scale model instead of a real city. It just came that way. And I know, it looks more like a village than a city. I just was unable to make it look like a city (well, I could say that in this imaginary world there are so few habitants that this amount of buildings make a big city... ;) ) And I know, most houses look like boxes. That's because they are boxes. I _should_ have worked more on them, but I was just lazy...
