JPGFILE: shark.jpg RENDERER USED: Blender 1.7 TOOLS USED: Blender 1.7 RENDER TIME: A few minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium II 400 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is my third attempt to send an image for the IRTC, and the first time that I managed to finish it ! :-) So this is "Sharks" : As always, and as everybody, I was searching for an idea for this round, when I saw that TV program talking about "wildlife", where I saw two photographers dive to save a "great white" shark trapped in a cable they were using. They cut the cable and carry the shark to the shore and help him to get back to the ocean. They were manipulating this "killer" with their arms, in the water with him, with no protections. These were the most incredible and beautiful images I ever saw. This is my tribute to this shark, back in the wilderness. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Everything is done on a Pentium II, with a Linux Mandrake 6.1 OS. All modeling and rendering was done using Blender (http://www.blender.nl). The jpeg, resizing, and copyright adding were done under the Gimp. The shark was found on Internet (at Michael's http://centralsource.com/blender/files.htm), deformed and adapted using lattice deformation. It was then duplicated, and deformed again, even if we don't see it so much. The texture is a "secret". The "sun through water" light effect was done using a spot light through a half-sphere with "holes" for the rays. There is also a lot of lights everywhere around the scene. The ground was made using "Fract subd" and then by hand to achieve the work. The texture was made from a "marble" one, to try to produce the underwater ground effect.
