===== From digitalburn@totalise.co.uk: Very nice ships - i'd only have included the one in the foreground though. The horizon is a little sharp though (ground fog?) and the sky isn't quite right. I like it though. ===== From darwallace@earthlink.net: I used Michael Hough's water tutorial as a base for my water (seacoast). It requires MegaPOV for the full effect, however. You also need some different object types to complete the scene. Sea birds would work well here. ===== From pbourke@swin.edu.au: Good ships, sure. But where's the bow wave (they are under full sail). The clouds in the horizon aren't right. ===== From dvnss@mega.ist.utl.pt: The boat is really great! ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: The water doesn't make it but the detailed ship is very nice. ===== From tony@j4tb.com: Your image looks almost painted. ===== From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com: Like yeah, the ships are really great. I have to say I saw one at sea from the ferry boat I was on, and how it looked impressive to see the sail grow and grow as we drew closer. It was an awesome sight and I understand the great stories this was generating at the time. Now back to your picture, you really are missing some light fog near the surface, to merge the sea into the sky. The sky is fancy by the way. ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: Wow looks like alot of detail! Really shows the beauty of those ships. ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: Great job on the ships... the amount of detail is impressive, and it works well. The ocean could definitely use some work to help it complement the reality of the ships. ===== From peter@table76.demon.co.uk: One of the better-modelled ships in this round. ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: I love the modelling, it's so intricate. The ship reminds me of the Cutty Sark (sp?) an old tea clipper, which is docked in Grenwich. It looks asthough you have used a plane for both the sky and sea, it may look better if you were to use a skysphere for the sky and use a very large sphere for the sea, then you would see a slight curvature on the horizon. As you know the texture of the sea needs work, as do some other textures in the scene especially that flag that looks like straight forward blue, red and white, which makes the flag contrast greatly with the rest of the image, it could maybe do with a finish statement or a normal to tone it down a bit. Keep up the good work. ===== From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au: Nice ship model, but the flag is flying in the wrong direction! The ocean could use the most work, but I see you realise that. I would have liked to see the ship closer up - it looks quite detailed. ===== From delfeld@mailcity.com: A good picture. I would have liked to see a closer view. The image has some nice qualities visually. . . the ship is very self-contained and sustaining (visually speaking), especially in the middle area of the sails. The view you picked really accentuates the natural quality in sails and rigging. It's nice to read that you like this ship so much. ===== From file: I like the blue color of the ocean -- looks very inviting. The ships don't seem to be interacting very much with the water; the further one in particular seems almost pasted on. Was the sky modeled? It's rather aliased near the horizon.
