TOPIC: The Sea COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: ctturtls.jpg RENDERER USED: Bryce 4 TOOLS USED: Ray Dream Studio 5.5, Bryce 4, Plant Studio, Corel photopaint RENDER TIME: 57 min. 25 sec. HARDWARE USED: PIII 500Mhz 128RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The sea is a perilous place and if you've ever been stranded in the middle of it, you know the dangers. Hurricanes, typhoons, hunger, and yes ... sharks. Sharks are unpredictable creatures. They hardly ever attack people ... unless they think we are food. The seaturtle knows what has happened here. He passes by this route often and sees them circling above, wondering if they are hungry now.... DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The shells of the turtle were modeled in Ray Dream Studio 5.5 as just a series of assembled flattened spheres. The boat was modeled in Ray Dream as well. When imported into Bryce, I used a terrain in the shape of the bite and made it a negative boolean object combined with the boat. Other objects created in Ray Dream were the sharks, the small ray at bottom left and some of the seaweed. The rest of the objects (turtle heads, sea bed, rocks) were created in Bryce with the terrain modeler and symmetrical lattice tools. Texture maps came from internet photo reference and manipulation in Photopaint as well as Bryce 4's awesome texture editor! My main Bryce file was 67.5 MB with over 8.6 million polygons.
