JPGFILE: seascape.jpg ZIPFILE: seascape.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray for Windows Version 3.1g TOOLS USED: POV-Ray editor, Jaime Vives Piqueres Cloud Macro and Lview Pro for jpeg conversion and copyright note. RENDER TIME: 45 minutes HARDWARE USED: generic Pentium-III 450 w/ 256 MB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Not much to say here. It's a seascape with dark threatening clouds, a lighthouse, some seagulls, some rocks with bird droppings and a beached rowboat. Although the cloud cover is almost complete, there are openings that let sunlight though, to the lighthouse and scattered patches on the water. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: From the top down: A sky sphere with a gradient pigment from white to blue Two identical light sources, one is shadowless. The light sources were positioned so the lighthouse receives direct sun light though a hole in the clouds. Also some scattered patches of water receive direct light. The clouds were made with a slightly modified version of Jaime Vives Piqueres Cloud Macro. Thirty-five cloud planes were used. Forty seagulls were added with my makeSeagull macro. The seagulls are very primitive, but look ok from a distance. The wings articulate about the center of the bird's body and also at mid-wing. The macro randomly bends the winds, rotates the bird on the XY&Z axis and picks the location in the image. The lighthouse is just a bunch of boxes, cylinders and cones with a couple of light sources inside. It has a two-layer texture with a brick normal. The rocks are a height field with a "gradient Y" texture map. Well, that's it. I hope you like the image.
