TITLE: Storm in a Teacup NAME: Tom Melly COUNTRY: UK EMAIL: tom@tomandlu.co.uk WEBPAGE: http://www.tomandlu.co.uk/ TOPIC: Sea COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: tmstormc.jpg ZIPFILE: tmstormc.zip RENDERER USED: MEGAPOV 3.1g.wmp.0.5a (Win95) TOOLS USED: None RENDER TIME: 39 hours, 33 mins, 13 secs (Parse Time 1 01, Render Time 39:32:12) HARDWARE USED: P90 64mb (home), P2 300mhz (work, for final render) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Not really much to say, except that, if you are unfamiliar with the phrase, "a storm in a teacup" means a fuss about nothing. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I'm not that happy with most of this picture - the sea texture is wrong, not enough detail in the background (a misunderstanding between me and the focal blur megapov post-process), no table-cloth or other table-furniture, shitty texture on the lightning, etc. Still, I'm happy with the modelling of the cup, and also that no image-maps were harmed in the production of this picture (everything is CSG, standard POV pattern, or Iso). The cloud-code is a late addition (my original clouds looked like nothing on god's earth), and I am indebted to Kevin Wampler (for the original code) and Mick Hazelgrove (for his useful changes and comments to Kevin's code).
