I think you were stretching a bit to make this fit "Laboratory."  It looks more
like an animal shelter to me.  The animals are very nice, but if I understand
you correctly, the models (and textures) aren't even yours.
The scene is fairly well layed out, but I think you would have benefitted from
cutting a little less than a quarter of the image off the right side, to make
it more focused.

bending on the broken cage door could use some work 
to make it look more natural.
