His old copy of the handbook of magic, written in a long forgotten language, points the way to new territories, as it seems. But something has gone completely wrong. After drinking his first experimental result, a red potion, mixed from colourfull ingredients, he faces a dreadfull metamorphosis. And what is that humanoid creature, imprisoned in the bowl on the workbench, which was not there moments ago..... DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: the models: The glassworks seen in the image were modeled using Rhino1, as were the books and the lamp on the desk. Poser4 helped to pose the scientist and the creature in the glasbowl. These models took most of the time while creating the scene elements The workbench, the chair and the desk at the window and finally the washing device were taken from a collection of models presented for free use by CyberSite (www.cyper-site.co.uk) in the 3Dworld magazine, because they seemd to fit perfectly to my idea of that particular laboratory. The other scene elements are made of the primitives provided by Bryce4. The Library at the windowed wall and the floor for example are brycian terrains. At the end of the modeling process the source file had grown to more than 38 MB. This made the modeling somewhat tedious, since the computer was mostly busy with swaping. It is also the reason why no sourcefile was given. the textures: All textures are pure brycian 2D- and 3D-textures, taken from the built-in presets and customized to have the desired properties. the light: To create the illumination and light effects five extra light objects besides the brycian sun were directed to the points of interest. the rendering: It took more than 15 hours to render the image, mostly due to the extra light effects and the many transparent and reflecting objects. The image is by no means finished and would need a lot of work, but i will have to wait for a new, more powerfull computer before continuing.
