IMAGE DESCRIPTION: 

What a great topic!  My first thought when I read the new topic and what I
finally settled on
was Ansel Adams.  His black and white photography sums up contrast for me.  The
trick was which
one to try to duplicate.  I chose a picture titled "Winter Sunrise" taken in the
Sierra Nevadas
from Lone Pine, California in 1944.  The original is on the cover of a 2001
Ansel Adams desk calendar.


DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 

There are 14 terrains in this image.  One updside down is used to boolean out
the lake from 
another one with a water plane strategically placed underneath.  The trees are
all one model
generated in Tree Druid, scaled, duplicated, and textured in Bryce.  The grasses
and horse were
hand drawn in pain and then mapped to a single polygon with an alpha mask for
transparency.
The real trick in this one was getting the lighting and textures all to work out
in black
and white and still acheive the contrast and detail of the original.  I really
needed 
another 2 months to fully complete this image, but I'm pretty happy with the
result.
