The heavy feel of the twisted rocks is nice - St. Peter's Cathedral's alter uses
similar notions.  The turd-piles in the background are nice, too.  More
contrast between areas in the image would help the composition, and I am not
sure how this fits the theme.

This looks very nice, especially for a first entry.  The 
various shapes are interesting, and the scene as a 
whole has a nice mood to it.  It seems like the wind 
should have blown some sand onto the steps, though, 
and the ground in the foreground seems a bit flat.  Still, 
very good work here.
