JPGFILE: wowgeorg.jpg ZIPFILE: wowgeorg.zip RENDERER USED: povray 3.1g TOOLS USED: poser 3.0, paint, I_view32, PaintShop Pro RENDER TIME: 22 HARDWARE USED: Pentium 700mhz, 128Meg Ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This image has tons of things going on it it that have been created mostly with POV primatives. Fantasy to me has always implied big honking castles... you can't say Fantasy without such an image coming to my mind. Mystic is the genre of fantastic creatures that can be found in fantasy liturature and ancient tales... of these, the dragon holds premier position. However, I have never had any inclination to create evil dragons, so I created GEORGE... he's named after the monkey Curious George because of his love of boats. To increase the "niceness" of GEORGE, I have added the sweet female figure who is assisting George in his boat watching. The circumstances that have brought about this meeting are the entry of a small caravel into the protected harbor of the castle and the raised (now almost closed) drawbridge. Traffic from outside as well as inside is backed up (there is a unit of mounted soldiers on the far side of the drawbridge). DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: POSER - used to create girl, knights on bridge and ship crews (Total of 13 different figures) Paint - edited the POSER image map with paint to change the black shadows on the figures to a different color of black so that the figures didn't get holes in the POV render. I_View32 used to convert the POV output to JPEG. PaintShop Pro used to add name and copyright to image. Lots and lots of free-time. My greatest recommendation to anyone who is looking at this and saying "How did he do that", is to think in small portions to obtain large results. Each small peice of this render started out as a stand-alone render project. Each house was modelled by itself, each boat, each figure, each tower, each figure. Then each smaller item was joined with more of itself or other objects to form larger contributions to the image. Some things start out as a basic shape that is then later reworked into a more detailed completed object (WELL, complete in that no further work has yet taken place on that object). I create all my objects in 1POV = 1meter size... so when I have things like the medieval crane on the dock at the far end of the bridge, I an incorporate them into new images. The same thing goes for the wagons which many of you have seen before. The boats have undergone some significant development. They are entirely POV Primatives and make use of textures to give the decking planks, the sides planks. This will not be the last time you see many of these objects... other ideas are already forming. You too should plan on using similar techniques to maximize the development time you put into your object collection. The zip file for this composition does not contain any of the GIF's required to generate the image. These are 1.2 meg or so... should you want a copy, I might be convinced to send them to you. ;-) Enjoy, Robert J Becraft
