TITLE: War Birds NAME: Antonio Herranz "Chus" COUNTRY: Spain EMAIL: chus48@wanadoo.es TOPIC: Warfare COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: warbirds.jpg ZIPFILE: warbirds.zip RENDERER USED: Brazil R/S TOOLS USED: Max 4, Photoshop, Terragen. RENDER TIME: 11 hours 27 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium III 600 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The image shows a WW2 B-24 bomber crashed in a lake at the mountains after a forced landing. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The B-24 was modelled using images from different views as references. I began with simple polygonal objects and I obtained the correct shape by working in sub-object level. All the screws and details have been created with geometry, but the textures have some details too. The propellers have been bended, simulating the deformation caused by the crash. The aeroplane environment was created with two planes, one for the lake (water plane) and the other for the ground that emerges from the water. The ground plane has been created with Terragen and imported into Max. Finally, I rendered the scene with the public preview of Brazil R/S (www.splutterfish.com), to create a realistic atmosphere with global illumination and great reflections.
