IMAGE DESCRIPTION: 


This image started off as a cross between a collection of snow domes and those
marbles with galaxies
inside them (like the movie, Men In Black). After a bit of mucking around I
reverse engineered the
concept and asked myself, So what makes the marbles in the first place? This
final image is my
response to that question.


DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 


I started work on this on this image using POV3.5 beta. However the latest beta
release does not
work with the compressed mesh utility by Chris Colefax. As a result I changes
the scene over to
Megapov 0.7. This sort of stuffed up all my normal settings and some of the
textures. I think
the POV3.5 version was looking better before I switched over.

The petals of the pods were created in Hamapatch and then converted to the
compressed mesh format.
Most of the scene is an assembly of simple objects using loops and the random
function to mix
things up a little. Not very technically dificult.

The sphere contents should be a lot better, just ran out of time.
