===== From tom@tomandlu.co.uk: A nice image, but the textures need work. Excellent modelling. Seems rather low contrast. ===== From tlyons@gnn.com: persective on the moon is wierd... ===== From topher@csh.rit.edu: Wow, this has a great sens of realism too it. A higher res rendering may have shown the gears better, but I can see that it's a very complex device. Great work! ===== From thomas_alun@lineone.net: Nice image, I've always liked orreries (sp?). The cracked tiles on the floor are a nice touch, but they don't seem to change between tiles. I can't remember if POVRay 3.1 had repeat warps, but they'd be good for making the cracks vary slightly at the tile boundaries. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: You've created a pretty nice scene overall. The cracks in the paved pathway are a nice touch, but the length of the cracks doesn't fit the tiled pattern (i.e. they are continuous through dozens of tiles). One other suggestion for improvement would be to find a way to make the moon fade out at one of its edges. ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: The trees look good, as does the orrery. Sky looks good too. Very impressive scene as a whole, especially for a first-time entrant (and ray-tracing novice, if I understand it correctly). Keep up the good work! (On a side note, you mentioned copyright notices... I've seen a few I consider obtrusive and tacky, but I think a small, simple signature and year in one corner is similar to the way classic artists sign their work. Just my opinion, of course... everyone has their own style and preferences.) ===== From peter@table76.demon.co.uk: Pretty good for a first entry! The only suggestion I have is that everything's too clean - perhaps a little dirt in the textures and broken branches on the ground.
