Depending on some other inner worlds, rhythms, and lyrics build new worlds on their own too, particular to each individual. This image is based on "Stairway to Heaven"(*)-a Led Zeppelin's song- and how I can perceive it right now. This image is not complete. I think the image could accept more interpretations without following the lyrics, or even the addition of feelings from different songs. (*) Lyrics after 'credits' part. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 1.- Terrain. Managed with Forester, it was downloaded from the USGS site and converted to Terragen format(*.ter) with Wilbur, an excellent application btw. In Forester was easier to find a nice spot in the whole terrain and start working from there (Forester generates the *tga file for the height_field from the Terragen file). First and basic clouds were included along with the grass. I started to work then on the file generated by Forester -renamed-. 2.- Clouds. The clouds are just 'based' in those created with Forester. All pigments and finishes were modified completely and normals were added. Also, more layers of texture were added to the terrain. Fog and Lights were changed too. 3.- The stairs. They come from spiral.inc , which I've used in some images. Please see credits at the bottom. 4.- Piper and Lady. They are both models from 3dcafe. Exactly the generic man4 and woman7 in 3ds format. They were imported as 3ds. In AC3D it is possible to manipulate every part of the model. They were changed in order to appear as if they were in a more natural position and also smoothed. They were saved as 3ds and converted to Animation Master format(*.mdl) with View3dst. Then imported to Hamapatch and "dressed" there, using basically extruded cylinders and patches. Textures were added to the final .inc files, whether procedural or image_maps (from images made with PSP). As result of searching on the internet (pipers, bagpipes and the such) I came up with this attire. The same for the lady. It was extremely difficult to use a fabric (the texture) moved by the wind like a flag. So this is the way she ended up. 5. Bushes and little plants are from PlantStudio, mutated. I used "Tomtree.inc" first. However, I decided to render only one tree, map it onto a transparent box and repeat it 3 or 4 times at the back. 6. Stones on the ground are 2 objects made with Hamapatch -boxes-, repeated, rotated and arranged to simulate something similar to a path. 7. The wall was also modeled with HamaPatch, from boxes and extruded cylinders. 8. The little bird was modeled in Hamapatch, textured with an image_map made in PSP. 9. Souls. It's the same man4.3ds from 3dcafe. This time converted to POV with CrossRoads. Rendered in a plain background and saved as bmp. In PSP, converted to png saving the transparency in the alpha channel. Flipped, mirrored, scaled and repeated -finally reduced to a semi-transparent layer-, is the base for "the crowd", which is one png image, rendered in a transparent box. NOTE: piper.inc, lady.inc, arbusto_b.inc, florecita2.inc, and grama.inc are NOT included in the zip file. They are too big. When she gets there she knows If the stores are all closed With a word she can get what she came for. Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven. There's a sign on the wall But she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook There's a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it makes me wonder. There's a feeling I get When I look to the west, And my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen Rings of smoke through the trees, And the voices of those who standing looking. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it really makes me wonder. And it's whispered that soon If we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn For those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter. If there's a bustle in your hedgerow Don't be alarmed now, It's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes, there are two paths you can go by But in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on. And it makes me wonder. Your head is humming and it won't go In case you don't know, The piper's calling you to join him, Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, And did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind. And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How ev'rything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll. And she's buying a stairway to heaven. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 1.- Terreno (superficie), manejado con Forester. The same for the lady. It was extremely difficult to use a fabric (the texture) moved by the wind like a flag. So this is the way she ended up. 5. Arboles y plantas pequenas provienen de PlantStudio, mutadas. Use "Tomtree.inc" primero.
