TITLE: First Snow NAME: Cie Mathis COUNTRY: United States EMAIL: yrtrouble2@hotmail.com WEBPAGE: TOPIC: Winter COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION JPGFILE: snowflks.jpg RENDERER USED: Bryce 5 TOOLS USED: RENDER TIME: 8 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium III w/128mb ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is my first image submission here. I have been working in 3D since mid-December 2001. This is what I feel when I think of winter. The first snowfall. To me the flakes are always large, wet and drifting silently from the clouds. Doesn't matter if they really are or not, this is how I picture it. I wanted to give a happy feeling to my image and to convey the quietness that comes with a snowfall. Of course, I'm happy to see winter gone by January but I still love the first snowfall. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The pine tree is a Bryce tree with standard mats applied. Snowflakes are symmetrical lattices with snowflake bitmap files applied and a tweeked snow mat applied and the mountain is a modified terrain that I created and use in many images because I like how it manipulates. The image was rendered using soft shadows and blurry transmissions.
