I see what you're trying to do with this image, but it doesn't quite work. I
think the problem is that the lamps draw the eye too much, so the overall
impression isn't at all lonely. Perhaps if a third lamp was in shot but was
turned off 'cause it couldn't be plugged in.

The lighting for the scene is done nicely.  When I look 
at this scene, I feel there should be a third lamp, to 
which the lonely plug belongs.  Lava lamp, desk lamp, 
lonely lamp.
