I think the streaky clouds conflict with the streaky trails of the =
ships, causing visual confusion.  Perhaps a more amorphous cloud layer =

much of the scene is obscure, though I think I got the gist of it... not 
strongly evocative of loneliness.  The streaked sky doesn't work for 
me.  The man does work (though you said it was rough), also the jets look 
good too.

I like the atmosphere you've created for this image.  The 
rough human shape is very convincing at this distance.  
My only suggestion would be to tone down the black 
streaks.  The cloud shaped ones look fine, but the 
streaks look more like gaps in the fog than clouds, but 
they obscure the planets/moons in the background more 
than the "foggy" areas.

The isosurface looks pretty good, and the fog effect and 
lighting work well.  The human looks good (distance just 
may be a ray-tracer's best friend).  I think the 
streakiness of the sky detracts from the rest of the 
scene, though.
