===== From henry@unforgettable.com: wow. i'm not sure whether writing from scratch is included in the technical merit marks, but it certainly deserves a lot of respect. the radiosity is a little patchy, but apart from that incredibly impressive. ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: Ok, I'm impressed by the software... ===== From cherii@att.net: Very original. ===== From awilcox@dreampeach.com: I like the composition of this scene, but more render time would have helped the fuzziness. ===== From beighton155@yahoo.com: Full marks for tech simply for creating your own tracer ===== From novotek@web.de: well, seems to be a lot of work to do this image... (in C...) :) ===== From ruy@hipernet.com.br: Great concept! ===== From p.olice@free.fr: Very, very good. I like your radiosity implementation, but most of all your computing skills did not go in the way of artistic merit. A winner. ===== From dapigg2000@yahoo.com: VERY cool. Your own raytracer too? Amazing. heh. Solitaire / solitary confinement... nice pun. ===== From daffy-duck@worldnet.att.net: You get 20 in technical for writing your own ray tracer. Very cool man. ===== From wozzeck@club-internet.fr: The idea is great! You could even have mentionned freecell! Giving a technical value is always difficult for home-brewn renderers, as the total effort is huge compared to a result which could have been easily obtained (at least) with free existing software. Indirect lighting and atmospheric effects are quite good, while direct diffuse lighting is disappointing: banding, jitter artefacts. Impressive work however. ===== From tim.nikias@gmx.de: Like the idea. Pretty contrasts. ===== From rclee@oklahoma.net: Interesting concept. ===== From glenn@mccarters.net: You wrote your own radiosity renderer? Wow. Highly impressive = technically, and an artistically well-done image to boot. ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: Suicide King, nice choice...:-) ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: The lighting effects are done well, aside from the visibility of the patches and the graininess at the edge of the shadows. I personally feel that only one light source (sun) should be used, as the other light source seems out of place. ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: I like the approach to the topic, and the king looks good. The lighting does look grainy in spots, and banded in others. Also, the composition seems unbalanced to me... my eye is drawn to the bright square of light on the floor rather than the objects which contribute to the concept. ===== From clem@dhol.org: Very clever. I like the picture on the wall. How do you keep a two dimensional figure in a barred cell? You would need some sort of grid. ===== From r@131.san-francisco-13-14rs.ca.dial-access.att.net: Notable for originality
