===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: That's a realy impressive picture. I can see the loneliness in it. I really like the blur and the bullets in the air, though I fear the blur effect might be slightly bending the rules. The boat's shape is great, but it's texture looks wrong. ===== From henry@unforgettable.com: The motion blur works really well: i didn't realise the rules allowed it, i might have to play with it. impressive image. ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: Unfortunately using motion blur as a filter is not allowed by the rules (see 5f). This is a pity, because otherwise it was a well selected topic. ===== From houston_roadrunner@yahoo.com: This image has a lot of wow! The motion blur is fantastic and the water is great. The model and image map of the plane is very good. but the scene I feel is way of topic. The japanese loved their emperor and would die for him as a matter of honor. This was something the allied forces new and was one of the reasons for dropping the 2 a-bombs. ===== From ojamies@cs.helsinki.fi: What a speed, I have never seen still with more movement. ===== From darwallace@earthlink.net: This might well have won last year (10/01, Warfare), here it's out of place. ===== From : The motion blur system you employed here works well. I enjoy this one. I am not quite sure I understand the verticle water upspray, but then again I am no naval expert. But perhaps if all the tracer fire were being directed at the plane in focus, the pilot would feel even more lonely. ===== From awilcox@dreampeach.com: I think it's in topic. The motion blur is very well done. ===== From bfranke2@attbi.com: Great image, I can feel the speed. Too bad the effect was created with post processing. ===== From novotek@web.de: very great image - you can feel the "speed". ===== From ruy@hipernet.com.br: Excellent image. Straight on topic from where I'm looking and beautifully implemented. Hope you win this round. ===== From jpgargoyle@sapo.pt: Nice pic. As you said, at first it looked out of topic, but after reading your txt file I understood. Interesting and different approach to the topic. Best regards. ===== From p.olice@free.fr: Very good composition and an overall catching image. A little off-topic, but well... What I suggest to make it even better: better modelling and texturing of the aircraft. ===== From dapigg2000@yahoo.com: Imressive ness. An action pic that's addressed as lonely. Eyecatching, but that's all. ===== From mvernon@srendered.com: Nice motion blur. ===== From wozzeck@club-internet.fr: Great image, you feel near to the plane. The explaination is quite interesting too. Just not too sure I saw the link with the topic. ===== From tim.nikias@gmx.de: The idea is awesome. The battle-ship could use somewhat more detail (at least texturing), but very well done. ===== From rclee@oklahoma.net: Nice blur. Plane looks a little too clean but the model looks nice. ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: Nice model. Good artistic effect, camera angle, blurr etc. create a lot of=20= visual interest ===== From glenn@mccarters.net: Highly dynamic image. This is an interpretation of "lonliness" that I = would never have thought of. Especially in such a high-energy = environment. Good lighting and camera angle. Ship model seems too = simple, as if it is just a silhouette. ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: Reminiscent of a past IRTC winner... excellent action shot, though its relevance to the topic is strained. ===== From jamesrskemp@eml.cc: Cool :) The image worked for me... ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: You use a very innovative and quite functional method to create motion blur in POV. The explosion effects are nice, but they seem out of place (they seem to be from big guns which wouldn't stand a chance of hitting a lone aircraft). The bullets are also nice effects, but the wide resolution gives the impression that the ship is firing randomly (the bullets on the far left and right look like they're heading off to the left or right instead of towards the plane). Maybe replacing the explosions with bullets flying near the plane would give a more realistic sense of combat. ===== From patrick@sypa.net: Wow I get really the feeling of speed in your picture. ===== From jl@artcom-gmbh.de: Good motion effect. ===== From clem@dhol.org: You would have conveyed the kamikaze idea better with the more traditional image of a Zero. Frankly, I think you miss the point about the kamikaze pilot mindset. Not loneliness, but immersion in a group goal to the exclusion of personal concern. And loneliness is a very personal feeling. Way too sanitized for such an ugly thing, too.
