===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: It's a very nice, surreal idea for an image. I like the layout. But I think it would look better with more interesting textures, the sand should look more yellow and the lighthouse could do with some bumps and weathering effects. ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: There aren't as many light houses as I expected, but still... Here is one... Well rendered with a good rippling desert. ===== From darwallace@earthlink.net: Lighthouse and sand need texture detail. ===== From : You did some very nice modeling here. Very nice them concept as well. But next time try to do a lot more texturing, it will improve things quite a lot. ===== From dapigg2000@yahoo.com: Hmmm. Good idea. ===== From rclee@oklahoma.net: I like the sand but it could use some more texturing. ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: Nice idea for the topic. ===== From glenn@mccarters.net: At first, I wasn't sure if this was the desert, or a poorly-textured = ocean surface. A small rock or tree would prevent this. Have you tried = rendering this image with radiosity? It may take the flat shadow = textures on the lighthouse and give them some life. Good work on the = fresnel lens. I think the image composition would be slightly better if = the lighthouse was fully visible, and not "attached" to the right edge = of the image. ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: solid concept, though scene lacks various detail - little shading is evident on the lighthouse, it looks almost 2 dimensional in places. The sand looked like beige water to me, intentional? ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: While the shadow of the figure gives the idea of the sun shining into the camera, the position of the sun doesn't give the idea that silhouettes should be where they are. It effect would probably be better if you move the sun so it was behind the lighthouse. The human figure looks fairly realistic as an outline. ===== From patrick@sypa.net: I liked the fact that you didnt use poser like so many pictures. Could not have guessed that this was in the desert without reading the text file, but now it is obvious, so may be its just me !!! ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: Works well as a stylized scene... the 'simplicity' of the lighthouse seems in line with the rest of the scene. Lighting works well to isolate the lighthouse and keeper while keeping them at the forefront of the scene. ===== From clem@dhol.org: The lonely lighthouse idea works. I don't see that the desert bit makes it any lonelier, just kind of pointless. The lamp is excellent. The csg guy is effective. The sand needs more texture. I like the walkways. I think the English term you wanted is "lightning rod".
