This falls in the category of "object photo" where all of the work is in one thing to the detriment of the scene.  Step back from the telephoto and consider a bigger scene: a large table in a classroom or living room with crayon pictures about (no blue of course).  Lonliness needs a sense of scale.

  This one made me laugh.  I really like it though.  I appretiate how you took
 the time to make the box look real by bowing out the sides and the top a
 little bit.  You also used a good wood texture.  That's usually the kind of
 wood I see for a child's desk.

I agree that the wood texture looks excellent.  The 
cardboard texture is also pretty good, except that I find 
it a bit too shiny at the rounded corners.  My only other 
suggestion for improvement would be to add some 
smudges of other colours to the cardboard from the once 
present crayons.

Nice idea.  The blue fits.  Minimal but good.  I would prefer
