I especially like the texturing of the walls and ceiling. I had to read

text description before realizing it started as rusty metal, but then I 
saw it.
I've seen old, run down rooms with precisely this look to them in real 
life,
so it is quite authentic looking work.

I like the lighting effect coming through the doorway.  I think the =
image would be more effective if there was some evidence that I, the =
viewer, was here in the room.  Such as a bit of my arm showing or a bed =
that I am sitting on.  The open door almost suggests "hopefulness" more =
than "lonliness".
Image should be rendered larger to see more of the delicious texture =
detail.

I like the idea of a dark room, but it seems awkward 
given the presence of the light source inside the room.  
Maybe the light really isn't necessary for the scene, and 
if it is to make a more complete room, maybe it should be 
off - the feeble glow it emits just doesn't seem realistic.

Even a lonely person usually has some furnishings in 
their room, don't they?  Textures work well, although the 
ceiling does look a bit like rusted metal.
