===== From henry@unforgettable.com: I like the lamp, very nice. Might have been nicer to have a handwritten letter scanned in to give it that bit more realism, but v nice picture nonetheless. ===== From cherii@att.net: Good job for being a novice! The texture on the table is a little too reflective. You may want to add some bump or blurry reflection to that texture. ===== From rclee@oklahoma.net: I really like the color contrasts. ===== From glenn@mccarters.net: Interesting lighting. I think a "handwritten" letter would be more effective than using a = computer-based font. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: The lighting in the scene looks fairly nice as it gives a "sad" atmosphere. Only things I can think of to recommend is to scale the table's texture up (it looks to grainy at the edge), and to somehow make the light bulbs seem like they are actually giving off light. One possible way of accomplishing this is to use thinner glass, and put some emitting media either inside the bulb, or in a larger sphere extending a little beyond the glass. ===== From angelsdie2@aol.com: This is a pretty good concept really, but a scanner would have helped you out lots... There are JPEG artifacts in the pic of the girl, and the font in the letter isn't exactly believable as handwriting. Both of these could have been remedied by a scanner, but I know all too well that we can't all afford one. (actually I know really well -- just bought myself a refurbished one at a comp show last weekend). As far as things you _can_ control.... the scale of the scene seems off -- maybe it's intentional but either the picture is really big or the table is really small. Good use of the included textures, which I always find hard to work with but good as a starting point for textures. The table could probably use some "character"... scratches or something would help. The front edge of the table could be helped by changing the texture (most real furniature covers up the end grain with a thin piece of wood -- the same thing could be done on your table). At any rate -- good pic! ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: The lamp looks good and works well here. The rest of the scene seems overly simplistic to me. Too much of the concept is expressed in the words on the pager, rather than through the scene itself. The wood texture doesn't seem to look that good on the front of the table. Not bad considering the experience level of the artist, though. ===== From clem@dhol.org: The image is too sparse.. Too much weight is carried by a photograph. The position and orientation of the lamp is illogical.
