JPGFILE: pto08.jpg ZIPFILE: pto08.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.5 TOOLS USED: Vim 6.0 RENDER TIME: 1 h 58 min HARDWARE USED: 1.3 GHz AMD, 512 MB IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I think that this is what loneliness looks like. There is greyness, sense of cold, emptyness, no signs for land to reach for. Perhaps even no means to paddle ahead. And loon's cry in background - there is no sound that is more lonely. A bit more cheerfull topic next time, please =). DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I decided first to make image of empty room. While making decorations, I decided to place a model ship somewhere. Then I started to dislike the room idea so I wen't for a small island, where is lonely tree. Tree was so terrible, that I decided to replace it with the model ship, wich was in turn so terrible that I decided to replace it with my lapuri ship from winter round. And that hadn't enough details. I removed the sails and decided to make a scene where lonely man is rowing in heavy rain. First attempt for rain was decent, and I tried to use fog to cover it's defects. Fog was so great that I dumped the rain. I remodelled large parts of the boat. Then I wen't for comments. Everyone seemed to be against my idea to add the man, they said that this is good as it is. I tried to add detail, but this picture seemed to rebell all my attempts. Finally I added the (arctic) loon, and made some improvements to the water and hit the final render away, with heavy aa to keep the water smooth. Refer to sourcecode for technical information, it should be guite easy to understand. Thanks to all who shared their oppinions on this, and to POV-team for this great tool. -pto
