I first thought of the usual things (howling wolves in icy landscapes, light houses on rocks near the ocean) but decided these were not original enough. Then I thought of how you could feel lonely while still having people all around you. And this brought me to the subway... I'm not sure if it makes sense, but it looks lonely enough to me. The text on the poem (lying on the floor, not meant to be readable) reads: ALONE IS A STATE\OF MIND\Surrounded by many people\that all can talk\yet all are quiet\Life passing by\outside the window\city/dark/city/dark\And so we travel\though together\I have never felt more alone. The graffiti (on the wall, should be readable) reads "ALONE". There are also scratches on the left window. In my country, this is the most favourite form of graffiti: long-lasting and inexpensive (just use a key). It also reads "ALONE", but should be relatively unreadable. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I like programming all the objects myself in the POVRAY scene language. I especially enjoyed doing the bends in the pipes. The graffiti was made using a simple paint programme and converted into a transparant PNG file using Photoshop. The poem was first written on paper and then scanned.
