===== From rgow@lanset.com: Good concept. Try lowering the mountains for a more natural slope. If you want more in the picture increase scale. ===== From shay@simcoparts.com: I would suggest trying a slope based pigment on the mountains. The fog is also too thich for my tastes. A thinner fog with objects of varying wisibility within would be more interesting. ===== From chris@ugan.com: It's a good start. Your textures need a lot of work, at the moment the look like plastic to me. You should also re-valuate your compisition. If I were you I would look at Taoism images. Taoism images use lots of mist and fog like your image. ===== From jguthkelch@netscape.net: Justin, you ain't gonna get last place from me. A creditable first attempt. IMHO the fog is OK. what it needs is a faint peak to the right of the image to give a bit of balance. ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: The picture is within the theme and looks like the theme (though the texture is a bit too shiny and there is a strange horizontal bar above the far mountain). I don't see why it should end up at the last place. ===== From awesomeamazingaaron@yahoo.com: Good first try! ===== From juanjcampos32@hotmail.com: I would dump the plane. ===== From the_dark_allies@hotmail.com: The mountains could do more work. You should try to fractalize the landscapes more, it will do wonders for realism. Also, perhaps too much whiteness is involved here. Half this image tends to contain nothingness (empty white). But keep up the work, your headed on the right track. ===== From batronyx@alliancecable.net: I'm blinded by the white. I don't think this is a last place image, though. My best suggestion is to study the iso-surface techniques of Christoph Hormann. ===== From charliemc@prodigy.net: u might try working with media and density when working with your atmosphere effects. It is realy tricky though. i find all your nonstandard 3d programs that aren't designed specifically as terrain modelers like terragen, bryce, vued'esprit all seem to run into snags when trying to create the effects of distance atmosphere and at the same time maintain detail. terragen seems to be able to do the best job at handling these concerns. Though for non-terrain limited software povray produces some nice stuff; it takes a lot of experimentation to get the effects u want fortunately there are a lot of tutorials to help show how this is done. ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: It's spectacular, just not very realistic. ===== From chris_hormann@gmx.de: The white fog really seems too much here. I would totally drop it or strongly decrease its intensity so it just blurs the horizon a bit. The realism of the mountain shapes could be improved by not using a medium scale structure as now but only something large scale and fine scale. ===== From clem@dhol.org: The mountain isn't too bad, but the sky is too plain and the fog is way overboard. Yes, you can get fog or clouds around mountains, but burying the image in blank white isn't good for art. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: The texture for the mountain works well. The shape is also fairly good, although perhaps a little too jagged (playing with the lambda, octaves, etc for the granite noise pattern might help). I feel the scene could use a darker sky, with more pronounced stars. Also, as it stands, too much of the image is taken up by the unbroken whiteness of the clouds. ===== From hgregory3a@aol.com: you have potential, hope to see more of your work in other comps nice first effort
