===== From rgow@lanset.com: Nice texturing, but more variety of color would be good. ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: They may as well have called this the Terragen round! :) This image looks absolutely gorgeous and, having used terragen myself, I can see that a lot of work went into this. I love the subtle red colour in the rocks, it works really well. And the lighting's superb. It's almost photographic. ===== From shay@simcoparts.com: The mointains in this image are very nice. The sun seems to be positioned on the opposite side of the mountains from the warm colors on the horizon. ===== From chris@ugan.com: Very nice image and good use of texture but the technical side you lost points on. I know how easy it is to use Terragen. ===== From jguthkelch@netscape.net: Excellent. This is what ray-tracing is all about ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: Impressive... It's quite like the real place. ===== From llama009@hotmail.com: Simply Stunning ===== From juanjcampos32@hotmail.com: An absolutely breathtaking mountainscape. One of the first things you notice when flying over mountain ranges is how the shadows stretch for miles across the Earth's surface, creating a sensation of smallness while simultaneously awing the viewer with their timeless mass. The stoic quality of this magnificent arifact of nature is translated expertly. ===== From batronyx@alliancecable.net: Excellent light setup. I think you achieved the 'autumnal' effect. ===== From emperorofrome@yahoo.com: stunning ===== From charliemc@prodigy.net: very nice terragin image. ===== From 25ct@lineone.net: Very lifelike. I think the sun is a bit too strong to the right of the image though. ===== From : It's ok. You followed all the conventional rules for painting, and created the effect that that painting is supposed to create. After glancing at your website, I am sure you must understand them well. I would suggest directly questioning these rules, making images which you find are problematic - I think your exploration into color and form is sound, and would enjoy seeing such a systematic exploration into the unknown by you. The program you have written is more spectacular than the image, of course, and I hope you accomplish what you hope to with it. ===== From SRJeff@vbbn.com: Impressive. Something to be admired, particularly with the use of lighting and shadows. ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: The scene creates a subtle mood with the interplay of warm light and expansive scale. The layering to give detail is impressive. ===== From chris_hormann@gmx.de: Has a nice look but does not appear like the alps. It seems too dry, too few vegetation and even for sunset lighting the rock material in the background on the right appears too red. The snow could probably be whiter, it appears more like very bright rock in many parts. Apart from not fitting the aimed region the texture looks very nice. Just the horizontal line in the valley looks artificial - too strong, straight and wrong direction for a change in vegetation IMO. ===== From clem@dhol.org: Pretty barren. I dislike the lighting. The sky is much too flat looking. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: The mountains look very realistic, although somewhat bare of vegetation. I like how you have created the glow on the horizon to create the mood of a sunrise. ===== From glenn@mccarters.net: Very realistic. ===== From irtc_mail@yahoo.co.uk: Realistic but lacks focal point ===== From hgregory3a@aol.com: if you had built these heightfields by hand instead of with actual professional surveyed greyscale map data I would be awarding perfect marks for this. But it is very nicely done. Right on the theme. ===== From file: Yup, definitely Chamonix! My only niggle is the sky - it seems a fraction flat to me. Maybe it's my monitor. Notable for lighting, textures, modelling ===== From r@168-215-245-100.gen.twtelecom.net: Another Terragen image :( where's the interest?
