DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 

Take a home-made model of a pair of eyeglasses, add a heightfield, throw in a
rippled surface and a surreal habitat comes to life.

The eyeglasses are completely composed of POV-Ray CSG objects.

The heightfield comes from a TGA image generated using POV-Ray and the example
given in the POV-Ray help file.

The water is a rippled plane.

This image originally created Feb '02 while working on an article describing the
function of eyeglasses to correct vision (got a bit sidetracked).
