===== From rgow@lanset.com: Good 1st entry. Try rotating & scaling the textures, particularly on the cylinders, to get a more natural wood look. ===== From the_dark_allies@hotmail.com: I like the colors in this one. Lighting however could do with improvement. ===== From sammyf@wanadoo.fr: I'm not using PovRay myself, so I'm not sure about this, but it looks like you put the light in front of the camera and made it visible. This seldom works if you try to have a realistic feel to your pictures. You migth want to alsoo look up shadows, as they are way too defined. They should be more blurry. keep on trying, and I hope your father gets quickly bored with his computer, so that you have an esaier time having fun raytracing ... it's really worth it :) ===== From N6re@mminternet.com: Good luck to you on your upcoming projects. Idea is unique among the entrants ... ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: A few minor points: The whole image seems rather "flat", the lighting is not realistically, but just one bright point light. The feeling of "stage" lighting The wooden textures are not very convincing, some even look more like marble. It's a matter of taste, but I would not like to have marble walls. Maybe that's what made the boy mad, so he started throwing bricks. ===== From david.madore@ens.fr: Rather funny. But a bit bare. ===== From clem@dhol.org: A good interpretation. The feeling of frozen motion is very effective. This is one of the most kinetic images in the round. The image is also a nice exercise in similar but not identical textures. I like the shadows on the wall. The single light behind the camera is sually considered poor technique (loses detail and three dimensional feel, creates distracting reflections like the sinlike glow on the wall, doesn't allow you to fill shadows etc.), but it works in this case. Very promising first effort. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: I would suggest toning down the phong or specular highlight on the marble texture - it's too prominent and distracting in the current image. As for the Windows text editor, based on comments in cn_games.txt for "Winter Games" image from this round, I would guess that there is a problem with transfering the .pov files from Mac to Windows. ===== From slone@hiwaay.net: Nice concept and good placement of the blocks; they really look like they_re flying. Sorry you had trouble running POV-Ray on your Mac; it runs great on mine (and the programmer_s) so it may be a tough bug to find. ===== From r@jerkweed.kiva.net: Where is the child with the slingshot?
