Water is widely used to symbolize time and the word "frozen" originally describes water in still movement. So here it is: a single drop of water (or a single moment), frozen in time, still adding to those who came before it. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I_m fairly new to raytracing and this is the first time I submit to a competition like this one. I created all the objects for the scene from scratch. Many are simple primitives, the more complex are made with CSG union/difference. (the teaset, the faucet, the sink etc.) There are a couple of rotat sweeps ( the apples and the glass) and a single heightfield for the drops at the bottom of the sink. I created all textures, using Pov example files as a reference in some cases. Most of the textures are highly shiny and reflective, using normals on tabletop to create surface distinctive from the stainless steel of the teaset. To the icecubes I added a combination of normals and caustics to get more rough and wet feel but still shiny and reflective. I kept the lighting as simple as possible, simulating the sun by using a single strong pointlight to show up in reflections and a faint spotlight to enhance the shiny feel of the sink. Radiosity was set low to maintain the sharp contrast of sunlight.
