===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: The roof textures are intricate and delightful. The tower marrs this a little bit. I wonder what the huge structure was, that used to be on the mountains in the background... ===== From tyler@cg1.org: Nice image, but the focus could have been more on the technology. ===== From cmiles79@iinet.net.au: I love the colours in this scene. Very vibrant. This would be great as a poster. ===== From rgow@lanset.com: Excellent modeling! Good water & sky. The white pylons in the river seem a bit bright in relation to the rest of the scene. ===== From matthew-bradwell@melton-mowbray.freeserve.co.uk: More variation in the vegitation would be good. ===== From suso@suso.org: What is up with the shadows at the top of the tower? Other than that, great job! It's neat that you tried to emulate a specific painter. ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: Yes I've read that same novel and remember thinking that a fortified mill is an oddity that points up the vagaries of technological development. Your scene brings together a range of pictorial elements from beautiful sky, to landscape (including ruins), to medieval village, to foreground river which require a full range of techniques. The breadth and detail of the scene is enchanting. The realism seems more synthesized than photographic. ===== From 25ct@lineone.net: Not sure about the tower in the roof, but nice image. ===== From irtc_mail@yahoo.co.uk: This does have a painterly feel to it but it also has some CG traits. The join between the tower and the slate roof stands out, it is much too sharp. The overall perspective seems too 'wide angle', the tower suffers the most from this distortion. The foreground plants look unusually straight. ===== From slone@hiwaay.net: Beautiful scene, though it has a washed-out look that detracts a bit. Some minor nitpicks: The water reflection seems a little noisy. The rounded tower chops into the building below it abruptly. The plants in the foreground are all very vertical. The tree appears to be growing on a bridge. The waterwheel appears to be a little too tinker-toy like. The rooftiles look great, as do the stone bridges and the building walls. Though I've listed several minor nitpiks, overall I like this image a lot. ===== From r@pcw2141f.hisd.harris.com: Notable for textures, modelling, composition
