I think the image speaks for itself. The architecture is simple on the one hand - a box. On the other hand, it was extremely complex - it was the populating of the walls that become tedious and difficult. I tried to reduce the number of textures and that worked quite well. The color scheme works and textures work quite well. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Lots of beveling and routering to smooth the sharp edges and create details and depth to the structures. Spent an encredible amount of time on this one to get the right balance, spacing, and size. A fog helps to add depth to the structure. The lights are achieved by using a glow for the surface textue then applying a light to the structure for added realism. The dissapointing part is that half of my modeling is obscured. Perhaps an animated version will show it off a bit better. Most of the structures are created from scratch. A few objects were chopped from space ships and modified bweyond recognition - that saved some time. The only thing that might be discerable is the fine structures on the side walls and the ceiling (fine flat background structures). Those were stripped off a borg ship (downloaded off the Internet) - it really added to the sense of detail. I had to go to quite a bit of work to texture those structures but it was worthwhile. I replicated the structure back a couple of times and then added and move some items so that the repeating structure was less noticable.
