TITLE: Crop Circle NAME: Tim Attwood COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: TimothyEA@comcast.net TOPIC: Mystery COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: cropcirc.jpg ZIPFILE: cropcirc.zip RENDERER USED: POV-ray 3.5 TOOLS USED: PSP RENDER TIME: HARDWARE USED: Athalon 1.2G 512M IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A simple crop circle in a field, a farm building is nearby, and the moon shines thru the woods in the background. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was created by hand in POV-ray SDL. The crop is placed with macros in grids and rings, with a random variance to break up the uniformity. The stalks themselves are cone-like shapes bent slightly (with Chris Colefax's bend include) then rotated randomly. In the circle the stalks are a CSG shape, every other row clockwise and counter-clockwise, forming the base of the actual crop circle. The fence is made of isosurfaces, they are not perfectly straight. The farmhouse is a HF with an image map, and the woods in the background are mostly not visible, but are another image map, the moon is a high ambient sphere, and the fog and focal blur lend a spooky air to the scene.
