TITLE: "Harvest" NAME: Steve Paget COUNTRY: Wales EMAIL: 25ct@lineone.net TOPIC: Surrealism COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: harvest.jpg RENDERER USED: winPoV 3.5 TOOLS USED: PovRay 3.5, sPatch, and PSP5 to reduce image size. RENDER TIME: 14 hours and some seconds... HARDWARE USED: 600Mhz AMD Duron Processor - 384MB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Harvest --------- "Way outside the hustle and bustle of hectic, foggy, City life, exists a field that is always waterlogged - nobody from the City ever goes there. But, something happens in a corner of this field that no-one knows about, an event that happens every full moon - the Harvest. As the Watcher oversees the golden Dragonhorse slowly towing away the beautiful Red Rose heads, (harvested for their 'beneficial to life' properties), the Cutterfly extends its greedy proboscis and makes ready in anticipation to sever the last Red Rose head - until the next full moon, that is..." DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Everything was modeled by myself using sPatch apart from the Dragonhorse head, which wasn't modelled by me, but by Mr. Anto Matkovic - Thank you Anto, nice modeling, (even though it's hard to see in this image!) ;) Many thanks also goes to Christoff Hormann for his fine water tutorial, (wattut.zip), as this is my first ever water scene... Well, it may not look like it, but this was a hard image to render. There are 543,000 lines in the code for this image (25Mb .pov file) and my machine nearly fell over a few times, I'm sure. Parse time was something close to 40 minutes. I felt that this image was complete after the third 'test' render at 13-14 hours each, although I don't like my bridge rope! But, having said that, after hundreds of years, I see it as a well man-handled, greasy, sludgy rope, used, of course, by the... Watchers. Good luck to all. Steve Paget ~ My leisure is my art.~
