Evolution means breaking through conventions and limitations. The image shows the begin of such an evolution. A young tender tree broke trough the concrete ground of a graveyard-like forest of dormant trees. The future is present here as a shadow only, showing the tree as a strong, wild and healthy tree many years later. At the moment it still has to fight against heavy concrete slabs and the wind blowing away it's leaves. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The image consists of only three trees all made with my own software Arbaro (http://arbaro.sourceforge.net I included only the definition files for the trees in the zip archive, so you need Arbaro version 0.8 to make the tree include files for the scene) One of the trees is present in the scene as a shadow only. It was a little bit tricky ( for me unexperienced :) to get the light right on the small tree, because the big tree throws it's shadow on it. A spotlight with fine tuned radius and fade distance did it. For the concrete ground I used an isosurface, so I had enough memory for the trees. The forground slabs are made from separate isosurfaces.
