TITLE: Learning of Mistakes (and many more mistakes to come...) COUNTRY: France WEBPAGE: http://www.linuxgraphic.org RENDERER USED: Povray 3.5 TOOLS USED: KPovModeler, height field compressor, jpatch, nkflares, povtree RENDER TIME: around 3 hours HARDWARE USED: AMD Duron 850 MHz, 512 Mb RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I wanted to make a rather optimistic scenery of future, for change... In this optimistic future, manhood finally learned of its mistakes, and decided to reconstruct the Earth and leaves it to Nature. It now lives in non polluting flying cities, make instensive use of clean energies, and tries hard to rebuild the Nature it spilled. Unfortunately, after centuries not seeing a hag alive, the biogenetics engineers made some interpration mistakes, hence the violet hag with the yellow stripes on the foreground... DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: First time I tried to use KPovModeler to build an outdoor scene. I had to use a lot of external scripts to make something quite believable. For the outdoor scene, height field compressor and povtree helped me build a nature-like scene. I use height_field for the background. I started modeling a hag with jpatch but had several issues so I can only show it from rear view. I used an obj model found on 3dcafe.com as reference while modeling (particularly true with the horns). The butterfly is a pov object downloaded on the internet, haven't had time to change the wing textures, though... I used the city macro generator to create a 1x1 block set at the top of height_field.
