JPGFILE: jwgclsus.jpg ZIPFILE: jwgclsus.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.5 TOOLS USED: Poser4 to create human figures. PoseRay to import figures into POV-Ray. Thumbs Plus to convert image to jpg. RENDER TIME: 14m 01s HARDWARE USED: 2.66 GHz Pentium 256 MB Ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Triremes entering Rhodes harbour around 200BC. Colossus was never really this big but he does have a reputation to keep, and I felt that drawn-huge and straddling the harbour entrance fitted both the legend and the theme of the competition. I wanted boats in the scene and triremes seemed just right. There's quite a lot on the internet about triremes and I've tried to draw them to scale. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: For Colossus I used the unaltered Poser P4 male and the women's formal dress (scaled down). I then used PoseRay to export to object-file and switched to POV-Ray to add belt, bow etc. (Boat crews were later added same way) The triremes are all POV-Ray code. This took most of my time - I found it hard to make them look like real boats, probably something to do with having 170 oars each. In the spirit of the competition I made myself include my source even though, as always, it's ended up a bit messy.
