===== From skipt1@aol.com: While a dim lighting can create a nice mood, the lighting in this scene is simply too flat. The subjects of the scene should be brought out with perhaps a spotlight while the rest of the image can stay dim. The pun isn't bad though and the rest of the scene came out pretty well, especially the cactus. ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: I really don't like the dim lighting in this scene, it's made the whole image look sort of orange. If you want a dark sunset effect I'd suggest using a slightly blue ambient (or blue sky with radiosity) to balance out the colours in the scene. Other than that I like this image, particularly the catcus. It's a stupid joke but I've done the same pun with one of my entries! :) ===== From AlaskaS@gmx.de: Nice result for a misunderstood topic. Could also have been the result of days of thinking and mind-storming ;) ===== From rgow@lanset.com: Congrats on first entry. Modelling looks good, but lighting hides all detail in shadows. ===== From ewaninthailand@yahoo.co.uk: I remember myself all too well how exciting it was to see one's first images appearing from all that 'complicated' pov text. Lots of luck in the future as you get to grips with the program. ===== From i-mcnamara@cornellcollege.edu: Good modeling and good texturing, at least on the textures I can see. I understand what you mean about the soft light making the image looking a bit more realistic, but I really feel that more light would have benefited you here. Also, maybe a finite table surface would have helped to step up the realism. Keep up the rending, and I wish you luck with future entries. ===== From ericf@foothill.net: The cactus is a good image, and the general concept is interesting, but somehow it seems like it needs to be taken further in someway. I think the sand in the dessert glass needed a bit more light, as it was hard to see what it was at first. Not a lot, just enough for it to be more obvious, perhaps. ===== From raytracing@grayproductions.net: Clever pun, but it's hard to see what you've created. I'm all for a low-light effect, but here I think it could have been a little higher. ===== From file: !!! to dark ===== From file: Cool. I, personally, think that simpler compositions deserve cleaner lighting, reserving grubby lighting for busy pictures. Well excecuted. Notable for originality
